Sandra Oviedo: Art Loop Chicago... Street Museum

The Art Loop of Chicago is amazing and I named it STREET MUSEUM OF GIANT SCULPTURE, because anywhere you look at, always you will see Art. You can touch the work that was making by famous artist, such as Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso. The Art Loop has seventeen places that you can go to. However, in this time I just went to five places. I like to enjoy and spend my time contemplating art, and trust me I was waking around the Picassos’s Chicago almost 50 minutes, trying to find out the head’s woman. Finally, I got it; I saw her lips, nose, hair, and eyebrows. I always thought that was an elephant.

The first place I went it was the Flamingo by Alexander Calder. It is a huge red metallic structure that you can interpret in many ways, because it is an abstraction, it could be anything you want in that moment. The red red color is a pure contrast between the gray and cold colors of the rest of the buildings.

The second artist work I visited, it was the Four Seasons by the Russian artist Marc Chagall. It is an enormous rectangle. Each face has little pieces of tiles that all together draw the Chicago’s landscape. I took a great photo.

The third place I contemplated, it was the Miro’s Chicago by the Spanish artist Joan Miro. What can I say? It is a Miro. The Sun, the Moon, and the Star. The earth mother is represented in this sculpture. And if you go around you will see that the sculture is a woman's body with straight arms in front of her, a long neck, and a comp that Spanish women use to hold their hair. The fourth place I went is in front of the Miro’s Chicago, which is Picasso’s Chicago. I already wrote about my experience with Picasso.

Finally, the fifth place was the Monument with Standing Beast by Jean DuBuffet. Trust me, the Beast is there.

I love Chicago!!! and its STREET MUSEUM.

theatre

This is 5 theatres that I visited last week. They are Chicago Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Cadillac Palace Theatre, Oritental Theatre, Gene Siskel Film Treatre. They are all very near Harold Washington College. For example, Chicago Theatre is just 2 minutes from HWC.
Goodman Theatre is located in 170 N Dearborn. On the opposite side of Goodman Theatre, it is Oriental Theatre. Gene Siskel Film Treatre is near to Oriental Theatre. Cadillac Palace Theatre is a liitle far away from here.

Good man Theater

I went to the Goodman Theater a few weeks ago. It is locate at 170N Dearborn. It is a good place to perform. It has two seprated stages. The theater is not tall at.

Tour around Chicago Loop

There are so many interesting place in Chicago to see. My tour began with the "Cloud Gate" which is located in Downtown in Millennium Park. It was awesome, the gate was like a mirror, the color is silver and the shape is fantastic.Really, I cannot explain its shape. The most interesting part is the inside of the gate. It was very fun.

Next place, I am going to introduce is Jay PritzkerPavillion. When I came to the Pavilion, there was woman dancing and singing. Therefore, the Pavilion was crowded by the people and music. Pavilion is made by silver metal but the most interesting part is the structure.

After that I go to the "Crown Fountain" which is also located in the Millennium Park. It was nice, but I have to wait until fountain pour water. Otherwise it was nice. I like the water, and architecture of the fountain how it pours the water, how it flow away.

I am very happy that I saw all this things.

Theater

This is Chicago Theater which is located in 175 N State St, nearby Harold Washington College. It is the first Chicago commercial treater.

AL and his Downtown Trip

I used part of my weekend to walk around North side of Downtown and I had took some pics. Some friends of mine help me with my homework, and that was so funny. The sad part of my Trip was that I used a Walgreens camera and at the revealed procces part of my Trip was erased. However, here are some of my memoirs about this last weekend.

I had visited the museum of Comtemporary Art of Chicago, which now in the front they try to make some kind of exposition. Nevertheless, I took a picture in front of it. The Comtemporary Museum is so important in a City like Chicago. Chicago is considered one of the artistic cities of U.S. Around the Loop, or entire Downtown also the suburds, are a big feber for constructions. In those buildings, escultures, parks or simples gardens people or companies try to put a touch of art in each of them. Obviuosly, more than teh 70 % are modern art styles. That was the reason for which I want to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago. I invited yours, would be a nice experince. Let me tell you a secret ...is free on Mondays.

Other Landmark in Downtown Chicago that I liked to visited is one of the Campus Building of NorthWestern University. That Campus building is near to my student house. I always saw a crowd of students walk around. It's Victorian style I liked so much, also they are convined with a touch of gothic style.

Cheesecake factory, was the next step of my Trip. I don't used to been there, but I like the enviroment in that place. Young people, students, tourists, childrens are must of the guest that Cheese cake factory have. Perhaps a little fansy, however very funny place.

Other place that I like to vistit perhaps is not a Landmark of Chicago. However, look to me like a Landmark in the North side of downtown. That place is the old Quigley Seminary (was a religious institution). This Year was it last year like school, now is under construction or restoration. That place look to me so misteriuos, because is in the middle of modern buildings Quigley seminary with it's new Gothic-Victorian style look so enithmathic. The color of the building, also the space that it take in that so important and exclusivily zone, look to me so atractive. But the most important for me, was the building style in them middle of that neigborhood near to Water Tower Center looks so out of place.

My final palce was the Loyola University Downtown Campus. I always was curious to been there. With my Walgreen Camera in hand I walk througth the receptions looking at the receptionist eyes. In front of her I said......May I take a picture here..and that's it. I took my pics and left the Loyola University Receptions so happy....I had done my Homework.

My tour in Chicago !!!!!

I visited some of the most interesting places in Chicago with my two friends Cintia and Kim. We where in some places like the Michigan Avenue; it is a great place where is possible to admire the great buildings as the London Guarantee Building, Carbide and Carbon Building that has the particular form of a bottle of champagne, 333 N Michigan, The Art Institute of Chicago for my it is a great building not only for its structure I love the two lions in the entrance, the structure of this place is just amazing I felt like in Rome or Greek and ready to fight in a battle like a gladiator hahahaha! I know that it is a little crazy but that place took me in a travel through the time.

Other great places where we went were: The page Brothers Building, Chicago Theatre where we met with Denise and her son, it was really funny for us; this place for me means a lot because it was the first thing that I saw about Chicago when I was in Colombia in a movie called Chicago, I

wanted to know this place and well now I am here. Macy’s the great place to go shopping; it is a nice place where you can go and have fun buying and spending your money because this place invites you to do it with its stores. Well Chicago has many things to offer you and now I invite you to go around the city and enjoy it.
